Matthew Stafford O/U 3949.5 Yards

WHAT TO KNOW: Stafford led the league in passing yards in 2025. He recorded 4,707 passing yards, which was 143 yards more than any other quarterback in the NFL. However, the sportsbooks suggest some regression may occur as his total for 2026 is set at a much lower number. 

Dak Prescott O/U 3999.5 Yards

WHAT TO KNOW: Prescott threw for 4,552 yards in 2025, which was third in the NFL and the second most of his career. Because the Cowboys had one of the league’s worst defenses a year ago, Prescott was forced into many pass-heavy game scripts. With an improved defense heading into 2026, Prescott might not have to throw as much. The 33-year-old QB has thrown over 4,400 yards in three of his last five seasons. 

Jayden Daniels O/U 3249.5 Yards

WHAT TO KNOW: After a historic rookie campaign in which he threw for 3,568 yards and rushed for another 891, Daniels only played in seven games in 2025. In those games, he threw for 1,262 yards. Whether Daniels goes Over or Under this line will most likely come down to if he stays healthy or not. 

Joe Burrow O/U 3999.5 Yards

WHAT TO KNOW: Like Daniels, whether Burrow goes Over or Under this line depends on his health. In the three seasons he’s played 16 games or more, Burrow has thrown over 4,450 yards each time. In eight games last season, Burrow threw for 1,809 yards. Injuries have limited his availability to 10 or fewer games in exactly half of his NFL seasons.

Lamar Jackson O/U 3249.5 Yards

WHAT TO KNOW: After only playing 13 games in 2025, Jackson finished with 2,549 passing yards. Since 2018, he has gone Over the total of 3,249.5 only twice (2023 and 2024). This will be Jackson’s first NFL season without John Harbaugh as his head coach, as Jesse Minter takes the reins in 2026. 

C.J. Stroud O/U 3599.5 Yards

WHAT TO KNOW: Stroud threw for 3,041 yards in 2025, which was 19th in the NFL. However, he missed three games early in the season. In his rookie season, Stroud threw for 4,108 yards. Then, in 2024, he threw for 3,727 yards. The former Ohio State QB has regressed every season of his NFL career. Can he get back to his rookie year form? 

Trevor Lawrence O/U 3774.5 Yards

WHAT TO KNOW: Lawrence threw for the sixth-most passing yards in the NFL last season (4,007). He has thrown over 4,000 passing yards in three of his five pro seasons. 

Jared Goff O/U 4099.5 Yards

WHAT TO KNOW: Goff threw for 4,564 passing yards, only trailing Stafford in 2025. The Lions QB has thrown for 4,438 yards or more in his last four seasons, as well as four of his five seasons since coming to Detroit.

Caleb Williams O/U 3649.5 Yards

WHAT TO KNOW: After throwing for 3,541 yards in his rookie season, Williams threw for 3,942 yards in his first year under Ben Johnson. With a pass-catching group that features Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III and Colston Loveland, alongside the new additions of Kalif Raymond and Zavion Thomas, Williams has all the weapons he needs for another huge year. 

Drake Maye O/U 3799.5 Yards

WHAT TO KNOW: In his rookie season in 2024, Maye started 12 games and threw for 2,276 yards. However, he took a massive leap forward in 2025. In his second NFL season, Maye threw for 4,394 yards, which was fourth in the NFL. In 2026, the Patriots QB will have another huge weapon at his disposal in A.J. Brown. 

Josh Allen O/U 3624.5 Yards

WHAT TO KNOW: Last season, Allen threw for 3,668 passing yards. His 2025 passing numbers were the lowest since 2019 as Allen has gone Over the projected 3,624 total every season in that span. The 2024 MVP recorded four straight seasons of 4,250 or more passing yards from 2020-2023. 

Justin Herbert O/U 3650.5 Yards

WHAT TO KNOW: In 16 games in 2025, Herbert threw for 3,727 yards despite playing behind an offensive line that was without Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater, two of the NFL’s best tackles, for most of the season. With both expected to return healthy and Mike McDaniel taking over as the Chargers’ offensive play-caller, Herbert is positioned for a big year. He has surpassed his projected total of 3,650.5 passing yards in five of his first six NFL seasons.

Jordan Love O/U 3549.5 Yards

WHAT TO KNOW: In 15 games last season, Love threw for 3,381 yards. The Green Bay quarterback has only gone Over his projected line of 3,549.5 once in his career. 

Jalen Hurts O/U 3249.5 Yards

WHAT TO KNOW: Hurts threw for 3,224 yards in 2025 after finishing with just 2,903 yards in 2024. However, he easily surpassed his projected 2026 total of 3,249.5 yards in each of the previous two seasons, throwing for 3,701 yards in 2022 and 3,858 in 2023. The Eagles will have a new-look offense in 2026, with Sean Mannion taking over as offensive coordinator and a revamped receiving corps. Despite A.J. Brown’s departure, Philadelphia drafted Makai Lemon and added Dontayvion Wicks, Hollywood Brown and Elijah Moore.

Baker Mayfield O/U 3599.5 Yards

WHAT TO KNOW: Mayfield threw for 3,693 yards in 2025, the 10th-most in the NFL, despite his production falling off in the second half of the season as he battled multiple injuries. The Bucs lost Mike Evans this offseason, but Mayfield will still have plenty of weapons around him, including Bucky Irving, Emeka Egbuka, Chris Godwin Jr. and Jalen McMillan. Tampa Bay also added Kenneth Gainwell, who should provide another weapon out of the backfield in the passing game.

Tyler Shough O/U 3449.5 Yards

WHAT TO KNOW: Shough threw for 2,384 yards in 2025, but only started nine games. If he played a full season, he would have soared over this number. Shough threw for 250+ yards in his final four games of 2025, and will now have first-round pick Jordyn Tyson as another huge weapon alongside Chris Olave. 

Brock Purdy O/U 3799.5 Yards

WHAT TO KNOW: Purdy threw for 2,167 yards last season, but he only played in nine games. Purdy has gone Over this number in two of his first four NFL seasons, however, injuries have been a big concern throughout his career. 

Sam Darnold O/U 3699.5 Yards

WHAT TO KNOW: Darnold threw for 4,058 passing yards in his Super Bowl-winning 2025 season, which was fifth in the league. In his last two seasons, Darnold has thrown over 4,000 yards both times. However, before that, he only threw over 3,000 yards once in his first six NFL seasons. 

Cam Ward O/U 3299.5 Yards

WHAT TO KNOW: Ward threw for 3,169 yards in his rookie season. However, his head coach got fired early in the year, and his best weapon was Calvin Ridley. Now, in 2026, Ward has QB guru Brian Daboll as his offensive coordinator, as well as a plethora of new weapons, including No. 4 overall pick Carnell Tate and Wan’Dale Robinson. 

Bryce Young O/U 2924.5 Yards

WHAT TO KNOW: Young threw for 3,011 yards in 2025, the most in his NFL career so far, after throwing for 2,877 and 2,403 in his first two seasons. The Carolina offense remains nearly identical to last season, returning almost the exact same lineup of playmakers for 2026.

Malik Willis O/U 2949.5 Yards

WHAT TO KNOW: In two games as the Packers’ starter in 2025, Willis threw for 422 yards. Now, for the first time in his NFL career, Willis will be the starting quarterback in Week 1. The 27-year-old will lead a Miami offense that features star running back De’Von Achane. However, the receiving core of Malik Washington, Jalen Tolbert and Tutu Atwell might provide some limitations on Willis’ success in Year 1. 

Jaxson Dart O/U 3150.5 Yards

WHAT TO KNOW: In 12 games as the Giants’ starter, Dart threw for 2,272 yards in his rookie year. However, his top weapon, Malik Nabers, tore his ACL and meniscus in Dart’s first NFL start. The 23-year-old also provided major value on the ground as he rushed for 487 in 2025. However, his rushing ability is a concern for passing props, as scrambles and designed runs directly reduce his total passing volume.

Aaron Rodgers O/U 3149.5 Yards

WHAT TO KNOW: One last dance. After many thought he would retire this past offseason, Rodgers is back and reunited with Mike McCarthy for one final season in 2026. In 16 games last season, Rodgers threw for 3,322 yards. Since 2008, Rodgers has only gone Under his line of 3149.5 once, in 2017, the year he missed nine games with a fractured collarbone.

Bo Nix O/U 3499.5 Yards

WHAT TO KNOW: Nix threw for 3,931 yards in 2025, the ninth-most in the NFL, after throwing for 3,775 yards as a rookie in 2024, showing that his success last season was no fluke. After suffering a broken right ankle in the divisional round of the playoffs, Nix is expected to be fully healthy for Week 1. He will also have another major weapon at his disposal in Jaylen Waddle, giving Denver’s passing attack an added boost in 2026.

San Francisco 49ers star running back Christian McCaffrey was held out of practice on Monday with what the team described as general tightness.

The 30-year-old McCaffrey had participated in every practice so far this summer for the 49ers as the team altered its schedule for training camp this year to eliminate stretches of three straight full practices.

Offensive coordinator Klay Kubiak said McCaffrey was “doing fine” and the team was managing his workload.

“Christian always kind of has his rep count in any camp,” offensive coordinator Klay Kubiak said. “You guys are aware of the adjustments we’ve made to our schedule to kind of keep them from having too many off days, but in terms of his rep load, we’re right on track where we want to be. He’s a veteran player, so you got to monitor him and get him ready for the first week.”

San Francisco is hoping to find a reliable backup for McCaffrey to lighten his workload after he led the NFL with 413 touches from scrimmage in the 2025 regular season.

But the team has been short-handed at running back with the top three projected backups to McCaffrey also out with injuries. Rookie Kaelon Black has been sidelined by an adductor injury, second-year back Jordan James broke his ribs early in training camp and third-year player Isaac Guerendo has been sidelined by a torn pectoral muscle suffered earlier in the offseason.

Patrick Taylor Jr., Sincere McCormick and Khalil Herbert handled most of the load at running back on Monday.

“It sucks because you want those young guys out there who we drafted and who we want to see compete and want to see get better,” Kubiak said. “Those guys will get back out there. They’re not far away. But it’s given guys opportunities to get better, too.”

The Niners did bring back receiver Deebo Samuel earlier in training camp and he has been getting work as a running back as well.

“When he has the ball in his hand, there’s nobody more explosive, more dynamic on the field,” Kubiak said. “In terms of managing his load, Deebo has got to be able to affect the game in a lot of ways. That’s our plan with him.”

Defensive end Nick Bosa also was out, missing his fourth straight practice with what the team described as soreness. Bosa is working his way back after going down with a season-ending torn ACL in Week 3 last year.

Bosa had only participated in individual drills early in camp before being held out but coach Kyle Shanahan has said the team isn’t overly concerned about his status.

The fortress in Dallas isn’t open for demolition anytime soon. 

Star defensive lineman Quinnen Williams has agreed to a three-year, $105.9 million extension with the Cowboys, NFL Network reported Monday. The deal for Williams reportedly includes $101 million guaranteed with $63.35 million due at signing.

Williams, 28, is heading into his eighth NFL season and his second with the Cowboys after being traded to Dallas at last year’s trade deadline. He now joins a long list of defensive linemen signing big extensions this summer.

Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter reset the market in July, signing a long-term extension worth $38 million annually that made him the highest-paid defensive tackle in the league. Williams falls right behind him, set to earn $35.3 million annually.

Williams had two years remaining on his contract, but Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones made sure to lock him up through the 2030 season. With the extension in place, he is now bound to an overall five-year, $153.15 million deal. 

With $101 million in total guarantees, Williams now holds the second-most guaranteed money among all NFL defensive linemen, per Spotrac.

Williams was selected with the third overall pick by the Jets in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Alabama. He’s been one of the league’s best defensive linemen since entering the NFL, earning four Pro Bowl selections and first-team All-Pro honors in 2022.

The Cowboys put quite the investment into Williams before the extension. At last year’s trade deadline, they traded defensive lineman Mazi Smith, a 2026 second-round pick and the more favorable of their two 2027 first-round picks for Williams.

In just seven games, Williams made his impact known. He recorded 21 total tackles, 1.5 sacks, an interception and a pass deflection, while posting an 88.8 Pro Football Focus grade, ranking second among all defensive linemen.

With Williams locked up for the long term, the Cowboys and second-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer can shift their focus to the start of the season. They’re looking to make it back to the postseason after falling short in each of the last two years, going 7-9-1 in 2025.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Even John Harbaugh can’t say for sure whether the Giants are going to be good this season after 12 mostly miserable years. But one thing their new coach is very clear about is that they’re going to be prepared.

That’s a big reason why his practices are so long — 2.5 hours on Monday in 90-degree heat and stifling humidity, in what was the team’s first practice after their 10-day camp-opening trip to West Virginia. Harbaugh’s practices are crisp, too. There isn’t a lot of standing around, and there is a purpose to every drill they do from the moment they hit the field.

That is … different than what it was under Brian Daboll … and Joe Judge … and Pat Shurmur … and, to an extent, even Tom Coughlin, who drilled his players hard but not often for as long. Still, the early reviews from the players have been nothing but positive. Or, at the very least, they’re not complaining. There’s been too much losing around here for too long for anyone to be upset about an accomplished coach who wants to push them.

And Harbaugh has been thrilled to learn that these Giants are ready to work.

“I see it, in this organization and this team, with the players especially,” Harbaugh told me shortly after practice. “These players are determined to do what is required to become good enough, to earn the right to have a chance to win a football game.

“I feel like I see that. I see it every day in what they do and how they carry themselves and how hard they work. And I know they look back and they say, ‘Man, we’re getting better. We see it.'”

That alone could go a long way toward changing the culture of an organization that has had double-digit losses 10 times in the past 12 years, including the 4-13 season last year that got Daboll fired and led the Giants to lure Harbaugh with a five-year, $100 million deal. How many wins it translates to, though, will probably be determined by the growth of second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart and the health of key players like receiver Malik Nabers and running back Cam Skattebo. 

But the big expectation is that no matter what happens, no matter who is on the field, Harbaugh — who was fired after 18 seasons in Baltimore despite a 180-113 record, a Super Bowl championship, and 12 trips to the playoffs — will have this team ready to be way more competitive than it has been in the recent past. And if that ramps up the expectations and puts more pressure on the head coach, that’s OK. He understands it.

“Heck yeah,” Harbaugh told me. “People want to win.”

A Few Other Observations

• Harbaugh, a former special teams coach, spent a lot of time on special teams during the 2.5 hours, especially at the beginning. It would be a shock if the Giants weren’t markedly improved in that area.
• It’s hard to tell from one practice, but don’t expect the Giants to shy away from QB Jaxson Dart’s running just because he suffered a concussion and was evaluated for several other hits to the head as a rookie. That figures to be a huge part of their offense. In fact, Harbaugh is likely to lean heavily on running with Dart, Skattebo and running back Tyrone Tracy. The run game could have an extra punch after the Giants signed 300-pound, six-time Pro Bowl fullback Patrick Ricard.
• Dart had his right ankle stepped on early in practice and had a noticeable limp for a while, but kept playing. He also made the play of the day when he ran on a third down and not only picked up the first down, but slid in bounds before taking a hit. That slide — something he rarely did last season — drew huge cheers from his teammates and coaches.

Nabers is recovering from a torn ACL and a torn meniscus in his right knee after surgery to repair the damage in October and another cleanup procedure in the spring. He did only individual drills on Monday, which was basically what he did during the Giants’ trip to West Virginia. The reports from there were generally good, but it’s clear the Giants are being cautious with him.

And they should be, because he’s the one elite talent they have in that spot. They’re deep at that position. Rookie Malachi Fields is both big (6-foot-4, 222) and fast. They have solid veterans in Darnell Mooney and Darius Slayton, a potentially good slot receiver in Calvin Austin, and a couple of long-shot veterans in JuJu Smith-Schuster and Odell Beckham. 

But Nabers is the difference-maker. He showed that as a rookie in 2024 when he caught 109 passes for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns in just 15 games. His second season ended in Week 4 — in the second quarter of Dart’s first NFL start.

Long-Term View

Improved, But Maybe Not Good Enough To Contend

So much has changed about the Giants, it’s hard to get a real feel for how things will go in Harbaugh’s first season. There is no doubt they will be better. Their quarterback should be improved. They have more talent. They will be a much, much better-coached team. That should be good for another three to four wins, which could put them on the edge of playoff contention.

But will Nabers be at full strength and back to his old self early in the season? What about Skattebo, who has been practicing fully but still needs to test his knee in a game? If those two can pick up right where they left off, the Giants could be a surprise playoff contender if they stay healthy. If they don’t, their path is much more difficult.

My guess is it’ll be somewhere in the middle. Figure the Giants to win around six to eight games, depending on their health, but expect that they will improve as the season goes along. For this year, that might just mean more competitive football and even an important game or two in December. Then they can set themselves up nicely to be a real contender in 2027.

My Next Stop: Bucs, Jets Joint Practice

Bucs coach Todd Bowles will be making his return to the Jets’ suburban practice facility, where he ran the drills as their head coach from 2015-18.

The 2024 NFL draft class featured six current starting quarterbacks, three of which have at least reached a conference title game, but there’s one signal caller that stands out among the rest, according to FOX Sports’ Nick Wright.

On a recent episode of “First Things First,” Wright said Caleb Williams will end up being the premier quarterback of his draft class, pointing to his arm strength and recent postseason performances as defining traits heading into year three.

“I think Caleb has maybe the strongest arm in the league,” Wright said. “Certainly a top three arm strength. I also do value that I thought Caleb played some of his best ball in the playoffs, and I thought Drake played very poorly.

Wright assigned Williams 45% of the likelihood to emerge as the top quarterback in the class, placing him ahead of Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels and New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, who both have reached a conference title game and Super Bowl, respectively.

While Maye claimed 40% percent of Wright’s projections, Daniels received 13% and Broncos quarterback Bo Nix had a 2% chance to be the best quarterback in the class, according to Wright.

“I think the other three guys’ raw talent is so much higher and Caleb and Drake are also so much younger that I think there’s more of an upside there,” Wright continued. “Jayden Daniels. I am legitimately concerned about his long-term viability with that style and frame. It has been a consistent take. All that’s ever been done is proven right. We’ll see how this year goes.”

In Wright’s breakdown, Williams holds a distinct physical advantage over his peers when operating outside the pocket. Beyond having raw arm strength, Wright cited Williams’ ability to run as a key difference between him and Maye.

“I think [Williams] is a better runner, I think he has a stronger arm,” Wright said before acknowledging Maye finished with more rushing yards than Williams last season. “If you’re asking me who is more dangerous as a runner, I think it’s Caleb.”

As Williams, Maye, Nix and Daniels move forward in their respective careers, their performances will continue to be compared to one another until someone is able to prove they’re the best of the class on the gridiron.

Preseason officially kicks off for 30 of 32 teams across the NFL this week, but contract matters continue to dominate the news.

Monday featured a major contract agreement for Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Quinnen Williams and an extension for New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry. Aaron Rodgers also did something relatively unusual at Pittsburgh Steelers practice, while there’s another update to share on Aaron Donald’s potential return to play. 

Here is the latest news from around the league.

Star defensive lineman Quinnen Williams has agreed to a three-year, $105.9 million extension with the Cowboys, NFL Network reported Monday. The deal for Williams reportedly includes $101 million guaranteed with $63.35 million due at signing.

Williams is entering year two in Dallas after arriving at last year’s trade deadline. With a wave of massive contracts hitting the defensive line market this summer, all eyes now shift to the ripple effect on the rest of the league.

“Usually, if you have two people wanting to get something done, it can get done. … Every deal is different,” Cowboys Executive Vice President Stephen Jones told reporters, via The Athletic. “You just hit certain bumps in the road where things don’t. It’s not because we don’t want to. … We’re always in the mode if it’s the right situation to do a deal.”

Next in line for a payday at defensive tackle is Tampa Bay Buccaneers standout Vita Vea, who requested a trade at the start of training camp. Maybe a new contract for Williams could reignite negotiations between Vea and the Buccaneers? Vea is entering the final year of his contract, which holds a $17 million base salary. 

The Cowboys put quite the investment into Williams before the extension. At last year’s trade deadline, they traded defensive lineman Mazi Smith, a 2026 second-round pick and the more favorable of their two 2027 first-round picks for Williams.

The New England Patriots agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension with tight end Hunter Henry on Monday, ESPN reported Monday. The extension reportedly carries a base value of $16 million with incentives that could raise the total value to $20 million, including $14.5 million guaranteed. 

The 31-year-old tight end had one year remaining on his previous contract and is now locked in through the 2027 season. Henry served as a primary target for quarterback Drake Maye last season, hauling in 60 receptions for 768 yards and a team-high seven touchdowns.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers took an unconventional turn during practice on Monday, lining up as an edge defender against his team’s second-string offense. 

Video captured the veteran quarterback working on defensive reps during team drills. The moment offered a lighthearted break during competitive practice sessions as Rodgers continues his training camp workload.

As the 42-year-old Rodgers returned to the Pittsburgh Steelers for one more season, the quarterback made news over the weekend when he credited Mike Tomlin for helping him get his spark back last year. 

“I’m thankful for last year with Coach Tomlin, because he helped me get that love back, that deep love back for the game,” Rodgers told SiriusXM Radio. “That, you know, tearing my Achilles and going through a year of rehab, and just never feeling like myself, it just kind of beats you up a little bit, and I didn’t want that to be my ending in the game that I love so much, and Mike and being around the guys, got me that love back, and I was content in walking away.”

While Tomlin left the Steelers this offseason, Rodgers nearly followed him until the team decided to hire one of his former coaches with the Green Bay Packers, Mike McCarthy, to replace him.

“They hired Mike McCarthy, and I was like, ‘OK, maybe we need a full circle here, me and Mike need a full circle here,'” Rodgers said.

Aaron Donald is continuing to spark rumors of his return. His trainer shared a video of Donald training alongside Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Braden Fiske. 

The video came a few days after Donald had an official workout with the Rams, only heightening the speculation that he’ll return. It’s been rumored that his decision could come soon, with Rams head coach Sean McVay saying in late July that Donald would likely make a decision later in August.

Donald, a three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year and eight-time First-Team All-Pro selection, has maintained an active training regimen following his retirement from professional football in 2024.
