Chiefs Receiver Rashee Rice Released From Jail For Car Crash

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice was released from a Dallas County jail on Tuesday after serving a 30-day sentence for violating the terms of his probation, which stemmed from his role in a car crash that left multiple people injured on a Texas highway.

The 26-year-old Rice had been booked into the jail on May 19 after testing positive for THC. Upon his release, Rice made a quick dash past a handful of reporters and into a waiting SUV, which whisked him away from the facility.

Rice had surgery about a week before he was sentenced to clean up debris in his right knee, which had been causing inflammation. A judge approved a request from his lawyers to allow him to receive treatment at Parkland Hospital while serving his sentence.

Rice missed all the Chiefs’ voluntary offseason workouts and their mandatory minicamp, which concluded last week. But Chiefs coach Andy Reid said recently that he expects him to report on time to training camp at the end of July.

“[Chiefs trainer] Rick [Burkholder] has talked to him more than what I have,” Reid said, “just making sure that everything was set there where he could do some rehab with it and still do the time that he needed to take care of. So he’s on top of that, and thank goodness that they’re allowing him to do that. So, they’ve been great with that.”

The Chiefs are counting on Rice to help an offense that often struggled during a disappointing 6-11 finish last season.

He’s been valuable when he’s been available, catching 156 passes for 1,797 yards and 14 touchdowns and helping the Chiefs win the Super Bowl in the 2023 season. But he’s also missed games because of suspension and injuries, resulting in just 28 played in three seasons.

“We’re moving forward as normal, as we go here,” Reid said during voluntary workouts. “When he gets back, we’ve got to get him caught up in doing what he needs to do, and make sure he gets it. It’s not an easy thing he’s going through.

“Life lessons are important,” Reid added, “but we’re all given chances to learn, and he’s in that position now.”

Meet The World Cup Player Who Went From Least Known

When an Argentinian commentator called New Zealand defender Tim Payne the “least known player” in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, millions of soccer fans acted as if it were a personal insult and acted on Payne’s behalf.

Payne has seen his Instagram following grow from less than 5,000 to more than 5 million since social media personality “El Scarso” called him the tournament’s least-known player in late May. The two have made amends in the time since then, though, with Payne meeting El Scarso earlier in June. Payne even gifted El Scarso a kit, and thanked him for the attention he’s received in a social media post.

“The past week has been a crazy ride, but thanks to @elscarso for everything he has done for myself, my family and NZ football,” Payne wrote. “Great meeting you in person today mate.”

So, as Payne has quickly become one of the most followed players at the World Cup, here’s what you should know about the New Zealand defender.

New ZealandWhy Was Tim Payne Called ‘Least Known?’

El Scarso’s comment about Payne actually might have come from a good place. Ahead of the World Cup, El Scarso said he wanted to find a player that would “unite us all.” In order to find that player, El Scarso said he scoured the social media accounts of every player set to play in the World Cup and tried to find which one had the fewest number of followers.

“After analyzing them one by one, I found him. In Group G, in New Zealand, there is Tim Payne,” El Scarso said. “He really is the least known. He doesn’t even have 5,000 followers!”

New ZealandHow Did Tim Payne React To The Comment?

A couple of days after El Scarso’s initial comment, Payne thanked the influencer in an Instagram post.

“It’s been a crazy 48 hours, to say the least,” Payne said. “I just wanted to also express that I’m very grateful.”

New ZealandHow Long Has Tim Payne Played For New Zealand?

Payne made his first cap for New Zealand’s senior squad in 2012, but he hasn’t been a mainstay during that time. The 32-year-old from Auckland, New Zealand, has 52 career caps for his country ahead of New Zealand’s opening matchup in the 2026 World Cup against Iran on Monday.

Payne also has three goals during that span. His most recent goal came in New Zealand’s 7-0 win over Fiji in World Cup qualifiers, adding three assists.

New ZealandWhich Club Team Is Tim Payne On?

Payne has been a member of Wellington Phoenix in Australia’s A-League Men since 2019, recording 143 caps and four goals during his time with the team. He’s currently under contract through the 2027-28 season.

Prior to joining Wellington Phoenix, Payne played for Eastern Suburbs AFC of New Zealand’s Northern League from 2016-19. He had a stint with the Portland Timbers’ reserve squad for a year in 2015-16 as well.

New ZealandWhere Does Tim Payne Rank Among Most Followed Accounts?

Payne’s 5.8 million Instagram followers as of Tuesday afternoon is a pretty impressive number. However, that number lags a good bit behind some of the most-followed accounts in soccer. Cristiano Ronaldo is the most-followed soccer player on Instagram, holding 666 million followers as of Monday. Lionel Messi has 506 million followers.

Still, Payne has become a well-known name among soccer fans online and in New Zealand. He’s among the most-followed Kiwis on Instagram. His 5.7 million followers isn’t too far away from singer Lorde (11 million) as he continues to gain influence.

Ranking The 8 Best Fits For QB Brendan Sorsby In

Texas Tech transfer quarterback Brendan Sorsby plans to apply for entry into the NFL Supplemental Draft, according to NFL Network, which would end the controversy surrounding his college eligibility amid his gambling scandal.

What does that mean for NFL teams? There’s now another young, talented quarterback to evaluate as a potential roster addition this summer.

FOX Sports NFL Draft analyst Rob Rang recently gave Sorsby a second-round grade for 2027. Rang added that Sorsby is a cross between Baker Mayfield and Jaxson Dart and that, without the off-field concerns, the Texas Tech transfer could have been selected in the 2026 draft before Alabama’s Ty Simpson, who went No. 13 overall to the Los Angeles Rams.

–>

In the NFL Supplemental Draft, teams can bid one of their draft picks for the following year on a player, who is then awarded to the bidding team that finished highest in a weighted lottery order.

No one has been selected in the NFL Supplemental Draft since 2019, when the Arizona Cardinals used a fifth-round bid on Washington State safety Jalen Thompson. The most recent quarterback selected was Ohio State’s Terrelle Pryor, in 2011 by the Raiders with a third-round bid.

If no team submits a bid on Sorsby, he’d become an undrafted free agent, free to sign anywhere. But given his talent, that’s unlikely to happen.

If Sorsby’s entry into the NFL Supplemental Draft is approved, here are eight NFL teams that make sense as landing spots, ranked in descending order:

8.

Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings’ long-term quarterback outlook is unclear. They signed former Pro Bowler Kyler Murray this offseason to compete with 2024 first-round pick J.J. McCarthy, who has battled injuries and on-field struggles through two seasons. Taking Sorsby could open the door for a McCarthy trade.

7.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Starter Baker Mayfield is entering the last year of his contract, and he told reporters in early June that his camp is not close on a new deal with the Bucs. If Tampa doesn’t see the gap closing, Sorsby is an option to be Mayfield’s successor.

6.

Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins signed former Titans and Packers QB Malik Willis to a three-year deal, but it’s essentially a two-year commitment, as the contract has no guaranteed money beyond 2027. Sorsby would represent both an insurance policy on Willis’ performance and a potential long-term successor.

5.

Atlanta Falcons

Third-year pro Michael Penix Jr. and veteran Tua Tagovailoa are currently battling to be QB1, but it’s unclear whether either is a viable option as the long-term starter under new coach Kevin Stefanski. Penix, who has started 12 games in two seasons, is currently recovering from his third torn ACL in the past eight years, while Tagovailoa struggled over the past two years as the Dolphins’ starter.

–>

4.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers need a quarterback for 2027 and beyond, as the coming year will be Aaron Rodgers’ last in the NFL. Pittsburgh used a third-round pick in the spring on Drew Allar, but it’s unclear if the former Penn State starter can be more than a backup.

3.

Cleveland Browns

Browns coach Todd Monken called a pursuit of Sorsby a “slippery slope” earlier this month, but you can never say never. Monken made clear that the opinion was his own, so the front office and ownership could have a different outlook on the matter. Veteran Deshaun Watson and second-year pro Shedeur Sanders are currently in a competition to be the starting quarterback, but the team doesn’t have a long-term QB1.

–>

2.

New York Jets

Starter Geno Smith is under contract for just the 2026 season, so Sorsby could sit and learn for a year in New York. The Jets selected Cade Klubnick in the fourth round this past spring, by no means high enough of a slot to preclude drafting another quarterback.

1.

Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals have an underwhelming quarterback room, with veteran journeymen Jacoby Bissett and Gardner Minshew II at the top. Arizona used the first pick in the third round on Miami product Carson Beck, but that shouldn’t stop the team from taking a swing on Sorsby, who would’ve likely been a first-round selection in 2027 if he played well at Texas Tech.

Austria vs. Jordan Prediction, Odds, Picks For World Cup Match

Austria and Jordan will open their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaigns in a Group J clash at San Francisco Bay Area Stadium on FS1.

These two nations will face off for the first time on the global stage.

Austria will be making its first World Cup appearance since 1998 after two strong performances at the Euros in 2020 and 2024 in which they made the Round of 16 in both appearances.

Austria secured its place at the 2026 World Cup by finishing first in Group H during UEFA qualifying. The team went 6-1-1 across eight matches, finishing two points ahead of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Austria also posted a dominant +18 goal differential, scoring 22 times while allowing just four.

Meanwhile, Jordan will be making their first-ever appearance at the World Cup after 40 years of attempts.

Its historic qualification came after finishing second in Group B during the third round of AFC qualifying, trailing only South Korea by six points.

Jordan comes into the tournament after dropping two recent friendlies to Switzerland and Colombia by a combined score of 6-1.

Let’s check out the odds for the Austria vs. Jordan Group J matchup at FanDuel Sportsbook as of June 16.

Austria vs. Jordan Prediction, Pick

From FOX Sports Research:

  • Austria is one of the more underrated teams, and boasts several talented players like David Alaba (Real Madrid), Marcel Sabitzer (Liverpool) and Konrad Laimer (Bayern Munich). While this is their first World Cup appearance since 1998, this is Jordan’s debut in the tournament. Asian Football Confederations making their debut in the World Cup are winless all-time. Man Utd handed big blow in signing Real Madrid ace

June 15, 2026 20:42 GMT (UK), by Sri Aswin

Luke Shaw news

Carreras set for Madrid stay Football Transfer Centre

Manchester United have been handed a big blow in the pursuit of Real Madrid left-back Alvaro Carreras.

The Red Devils are keen on landing a new left-back to compete with Luke Shaw, given that Patrick Dorgu is better off as a left winger.

Madrid’s Carreras recently emerged as a target with reports suggesting that new manager Jose Mourinho wants to replace the Spaniard.

This saw United linked with a reunion with their graduate, but AS cite that a deal is unlikely on the cards during the summer transfer window.

Despite Madrid’s decision to land Marc Cucurella, Mourinho has made it clear that he would prefer to keep Carreras alongside his compatriot.

Instead, Los Blancos are now prepared to listen to offers for Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia to recoup funds spent on Cucurella this week.

United may have to look elsewhere for a new left-back. They have been linked with Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall for the last few weeks.

Munoz wants Newcastle move Football Transfer Centre

Newcastle United are poised to beat Manchester United to the signing of Victor Munoz from Osasuna this summer, according to AS.

The Magpies recently sold Anthony Gordon to Barcelona for £70m and they are determined to land a new solution on the left wing soon.

Munoz has been earmarked as the prime target and talks are ongoing with Osasuna to negotiate a suitable fee for his summer transfer.

Man Utd have also enquired about the player, but the Spaniard has turned down the proposal as he is expected to prioritise playing time.

Osasuna want the attacker’s £35m release clause to be paid, but Newcastle believe they can strike an agreement for around £26m.

Talks are ongoing behind the scenes to find a suitable agreement. If a deal goes through, Madrid will receive 50 percent of the fee.

Meanwhile, Madrid are also expected to have a three-way agreement and they will retain a buy-back clause for the player next year.

Yan Diomande news

Diomande to Arsenal? Football Transfer Centre

Arsenal are one of the clubs keen on landing the signature of RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande this summer, according to Sky Sports.

The Gunners are expected to spend big on a marquee winger and the priority could be given to a left winger.

Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli have their contracts expiring next year, and it is possible that both could leave.

Diomande has now emerged as a top target for the north London giants and it is added that contact has been established with his representatives.

The Ivorian can comfortably operate as a left or right winger, and it could be the reason behind the Gunners’ interest in landing him this summer.

Diomande is unlikely to come on the cheap with Leipzig set to demand at least €110 million to part ways with the Ivory Coast international.

The 19-year-old is presently at the World Cup with the Ivorian national side. He started during the 1-0 win over Ecuador on Sunday.
