The Chase drives on as the NASCAR Cup Series heads to Sin City for the South Point 400. The race gets the green flag on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 5:30 p.m. ET.

The favorite, Kyle Larson, has found a new gear recently and it has earned him two wins this postseason. 

Will the dice roll in Larson’s favor in Las Vegas this weekend or will Denny Hamlin, who’s right behind him on the oddsboard, take the checkered flag?

Not only is Kyle Larson the favorite to win at Vegas, he’s the new favorite to win The Chase. And lucky for him, Kyle Larson got the hot hand at the right time with his two postseason wins. In fact, his win last weekend at Kansas helped widen the gap between him and Denny Hamlin for the title. Now, the series is heading to Vegas, a track where he’s had some success recently. Last year, after leading 192 laps, he finished second. When the series stopped in Vegas in the spring, Larson got a seventh-place finish.

Do the USC Trojans and the Michigan Wolverines manage bounce back wins after Week 4 losses? Does Alabama win on the road again, or will Kamario Taylor and Mississippi State overpower their defense? These are just a few of the many storylines of Week 5 of the 2026 college football season.

USC fell to Oregon 41-27, marking their first loss at home since the 2023 season. The Trojans now host the Huskies in another home Big Ten matchup. The Iowa Hawkeyes beat Michigan after a fourth-quarter comeback, and now welcome No. 4 Ohio State to their home turf. 

With coaching hot seat conversations and conference play ramping up, Week 5 will be a test for some of college football’s top programs.

  Ohio State 35, Iowa 13

Klatt’s thoughts: “Kinnick Stadium is a dangerous place for top-five teams to go. It has been historic, no doubt. Ask Oregon and ask Indiana last season. Here comes Ohio State. I think there are a lot of people expecting a similar style of game, in particular after that win for Iowa over Michigan … You know how I feel about Kirk Ferentz and Iowa. I love the Iowa Hawkeyes. It just so happens though that this matchup is specifically not a great matchup for Iowa. But why is this a different matchup? Because of Jeremiah Smith.

“While Iowa plays these other teams very tightly, they don’t play Ohio State very tightly … because of the deep-threat ability of Ohio State through the years, whether it’s been Smith, (Carnell) Tate, (Chris) Olave, or Garrett Wilson or any of these guys. In their last two matchups with Ohio State, Iowa has given up 54 and 35 points. Because it is an offense that can take advantage of the one-on-one on the outside … This is where the game is won or lost for Ohio State, they’re going to need to run the ball effectively. If Iowa helps on Smith and can still stop the run, Ohio State is in trouble … I think this matchup highly favors Ohio State because Iowa has to manipulate what they have to do on the other side of the ball.”

Klatt’s thoughts: “Alabama can flat throw the ball. Keelon Russell has been dynamic. This is kind of Kalen DeBoer’s offense … This week they’re going to see a little different defense. Now I don’t think that Russell will struggle because it’s a road game. He’s already had a road start. Having that in your pocket is huge for a young quarterback. He played at Kentucky, they even went through their lumps early in that game in his first road start. Now, he’s going to have a wealth of knowledge just from that one start against Kentucky.

“Kamario Taylor, gosh he’s good. This is the best defense he will have seen by a wide margin. He’s unbelievable. They can run the ball as well. They’ll be at home. Alabama has faced some mobile quarterbacks already. They’ve got experience seeing (LaNorris) Sellers … did a great job against Ashton Daniels … I don’t think Alabama is going to go in there and blow the doors off Mississippi State by any stretch of imagination. But this is a better team than Missouri. This will be the best team Mississippi State has faced.

“I think Alabama wins this one 35-28.”

Klatt’s thoughts: “What a joke that Missouri is still ranked … Since Eliah Drinkwitz took over, Missouri is 0-16 – that is a goose egg and 16 – versus SEC teams that finished with a winning record in SEC play. So how do we think they’re going to do against Florida?

“Florida can run the rock. I think that’s reliable when you go on the road … you’ve got Jadan Baugh. You’ve got Duke Clark. They can do it. I think Missouri might score some points in this one. They’re a bit of an all-or-nothing passing game with Austin Simmons. He’s only completing 60% of his passes against FBS opponents, but they can create big explosive plays. They still don’t have running back Ahmad Hardy though. Does Missouri win games like this? The answer’s no. Those are just the facts, that’s not me being a hater.

“I think Florida wins this one 42-32.”

Klatt’s thoughts: “I actually think this is going to be Miami’s announcement to the rest of the country. We think we know that they’re really good. I think on Saturday night we’re going to be like, ‘yep, that is one of – if not the – best teams in the country.’ … I don’t know if there’s enough guts in a bring your own guts-style environment for Dabo Swinney to go out there and beat a Miami team that’s that talented. Unless Miami beats themselves, which they have a propensity to do at times, but this feels different this year. You’ve got Darian Mensah playing at a high level. You’ve got Malachi Toney. And if we didn’t have Jeremiah Smith in the sport right now, Malachi Toney would be head and shoulders the best wide receiver in college football. 

“They’re better at the line of scrimmage than Clemson is. They’re better than Clemson. Clemson’s got some wins over Georgia Southern, North Carolina and Cal since the loss to LSU. None of those have been that impressive. Miami is a great team. I have them as an undefeated, No.1 seed in the College Football Playoff.

“I’ve got Miami winning 42-17 on the road, and they cover 16.5.”

Klatt’s thoughts: “Washington at USC. Both teams are coming off of tough losses at home. Washington lost to Minnesota, couldn’t protect the quarterback. And we all know about USC. Here’s the thing about USC and that loss to Oregon. Everyone is writing that program’s and coach’s obituary right now. That’s the talk of the town … that wasn’t an atrocious performance against Oregon. This is where it’s at for USC. I think the amount of pressure from the outside and the scrutiny … you either fold as a program or you get your best … I expect a good performance. That defense has obviously been bad for the last couple of weeks, but they did get DT Jahkeem Stewart back. Their freshmen are outstanding. 

“The problem with Washington is they don’t protect the quarterback. Minnesota sacked Demond Williams Jr. seven times and that led to turnovers. Guess what USC can do? They can get after the quarterback. They can rush the passer. I don’t see how USC scores less than 35 points in this game. 

“I think USC wins this one 35-21, and they cover the 9.5.”

It has become clear that the Pittsburgh Steelers develop players for the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys announced on Thursday morning they’ve acquired cornerback Joey Porter Jr. from the Steelers for a 2028 second-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round selection. Since the 2025 NFL Draft, the two teams have now made as many trades with one another – three – as times they have faced each other in the Super Bowl (in the 1975, 1978 and 1995 NFL seasons).

Trade Details (May 2025):

Cowboys Acquire: WR George Pickens and a 2027 sixth-round pick
Steelers Acquire: 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick

The first-ever trade between the two teams helped Dallas create one of the elite wide receiver duos in the sport.

Following a three-year stint in Pittsburgh (2022-24) that saw Pickens lead the NFL with 18.1 yards per reception in 2023 while averaging 58.0 receptions for 947.0 yards (16.3 yards per reception) and four touchdowns per season, the former Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver had a breakout year in his first trial alongside star wideout CeeDee Lamb.

In 2025, Pickens totaled 93 receptions for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns, which were all career highs and helped him earn his first career Pro Bowl nod. Dallas placed the $27.3 million franchise tag on Pickens last offseason. Through the Cowboys’ first three games this season, Pickens has logged 16 receptions for 150 yards and no scores.

As for the 2026 third-rounder it received from Dallas (pick No. 76), Pittsburgh selected Penn State Nittany Lions quarterback Drew Allar, who’s one of four quarterbacks on the Steelers’ roster as of Oct. 1.

Cowboys Acquire: OT Broderick Jones and a 2027 fourth-round pick
Steelers Acquire: 2027 third-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick

In the wake of guard and three-time Pro Bowler Tyler Smith being placed on injured reserve with a thumb injury, Dallas made a trade for depth’s sake, acquiring the versatile Jones from Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh selected Jones with the No. 14 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Georgia, and he’d become the Steelers’ full-time right tackle for the last 11 games of the 2023 regular season. He’d start 16 games at the position in 2024 and then open the 2025 season at left tackle.

However, Jones’ 2025 campaign ended after 11 games due to a neck injury. Across the time Jones did play in said year, he ranked 68th among offensive tackles with a 59.0 pass-blocking grade, 71st with a 57.7 overall grade and 80th with a 50.6 run-blocking grade, according to Pro Football Focus.

Jones has appeared in each of the Cowboys’ first three games this season, but he hasn’t made a start.

Cowboys Acquire: CB Joey Porter Jr.
Steelers Acquire: 2027 sixth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick

Porter has been nursing a back injury, delaying the start of his 2026 season, and sought an extension from the Steelers. Now, he’s playing for the Cowboys.

The Steelers selected Porter with the No. 32 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Penn State, and he went on to be a quality, three-year starter for Pittsburgh. From 2023-25, Porter averaged one interception, 10.3 passes defended and 55.0 combined tackles per season.

Moreover, Porter ranked third among cornerbacks last season in passer rating against (55.9) and yards per target allowed (4.8), and 36th in overall grade (67.6), per PFF. Porter joins a Dallas cornerback room that includes 2023 All-Pro DaRon Bland, Cobie Durant and Shavon Revel Jr., among others.

With the Boston bats ice-cold at Yankee Stadium again, a couple of quick hooks by Red Sox rookie manager Chad Tracy led to another early postseason exit.

And top starter Sonny Gray wasn’t happy about being lifted after only 70 pitches.

“I think I’m the best pitcher in the American League going through the order the third time. I think that’s a fact,” Gray said in his postgame press conference. “I would have liked to have been trusted in that moment.”

For the second consecutive season, the Red Sox were sent home for the winter by their biggest rivals as the New York Yankees rolled to a 9-2 victory on Wednesday night and a two-game sweep of their Wild Card Series.

Boston was outscored 18-2 overall and left to lament a miserable finish to this roller-coaster ride of a season that included Tracy taking over when Alex Cora was fired in April.

Tracy’s decision-making came under scrutiny after both playoff games against the Yankees. In Boston’s 9-0 defeat a night earlier, Tracy pulled rookie starter Payton Tolle after 4 ⅔ innings and 83 pitches in a 1-0 game.

Last year, the Red Sox won their Wild Card Series opener before losing to New York in a deciding Game 3 as they got overpowered by Cam Schlittler, who pitched another playoff gem against his hometown team Tuesday night.

“To have it end here two times in a row is tough,” shortstop Trevor Story said.

Facing a Yankees lineup missing injured slugger Aaron Judge, the Red Sox gave up 26 hits in two games despite a pair of effective performances from their starting pitchers.

At the plate, Boston mustered only seven hits and finally snapped a 26-inning postseason scoring drought that dated to last year when Willson Contreras homered just over the right-center fence in the sixth Wednesday.

“It’s obviously been an eventful year,” Tracy said. “In the moment, right now, you can’t think much more other than anything but the fact that we just lost a playoff series.”

Needing a victory to extend their season, the Red Sox sent Gray to the mound and the 18-game winner certainly gave them a chance. Boston trailed 1-0 in the fifth when the right-hander allowed a two-out single to Ben Rice that put runners at the corners.

Tracy then yanked Gray, eager to hand the ball to baseball’s best bullpen during the regular season.

“I felt good. You know, I felt crisp. I felt sharp. I felt like I was just out there competing. And yeah, I mean, I got clipped for a solo homer and then some singles, but I felt like I stayed on the attack throughout. I was just executing what I wanted to do,” Gray said. “I’m frustrated, for sure. You know, not ready for it to end. A lot of emotions.”

Asked about the move, Contreras put his finger over his lips to zip them shut.

“It’s not enough when you have talent, or you have data, or you have computers that tell you what to do, because this is baseball,” he said. “The data is here to help us, but at the end of the day you are going to have to need experience and veteran guys to win games.”

In both games of the series, Tracy gave the ball to left-handed reliever Erik Miller after taking out his starting pitcher.

On Tuesday, Rice greeted Miller with a 423-foot solo homer to straightaway center field.

On Wednesday, Tracy summoned Miller to face a different left-handed hitter, Cody Bellinger — who batted .274 against lefties this season and .259 versus right-handers. In fact, his .310 batting average against left-handers over the past two years was the best of any left-handed hitter in the majors.

Bellinger made Tracy and the Red Sox pay, lining an RBI single to right field.

“We’re struggling to score runs,” Tracy said. “And when you get in spots where you’re struggling to score runs, and you’re already trailing, you feel like you’ve got to be aggressive and go.”

Back from a shoulder injury, ace starter Garrett Crochet entered in the sixth for his first outing since April 25 and first relief appearance since 2023 with the Chicago White Sox. The left-hander opened with a strikeout, but Spencer Jones reached safely on a wild pitch, and Crochet never got an out.

Bellinger’s three-run homer off right-hander Garrett Whitlock capped a six-run inning that made it 8-1, and the Red Sox were done. A bullpen that led the majors with a 3.00 ERA during the regular season finished this series with a 20.25 ERA after giving up 15 runs, 15 hits and seven walks in 6 ⅔ innings, with a .484 opponent batting average.

Boston’s latest downfall in the Bronx was a crushing end to a wild 2026 season for the Red Sox, who stumbled to a 32-46 start. Tracy was the skipper at Triple-A Worcester before getting promoted to interim manager in Boston, and the team finally began to take off with a four-game sweep of the Yankees at Fenway Park in late June.

After clinching a wild-card spot last week, the Red Sox removed the interim tag and named Tracy the 49th manager in team history, signing him to a three-year contract that runs through the 2029 season, with a club option for 2030. The team also exercised the 2029 and 2030 options on chief baseball officer Craig Breslow.

“I wasn’t there for the highs and lows,” Crochet said. “For this team to do what it did do, to make it to this point, was nothing short of miraculous.”

Led by Gray and Contreras, among others, the Red Sox went on a 15-game winning streak in July that equaled a franchise record and used a 32-5 surge to climb back into contention. They became the fourth team in major league history to reach the postseason after falling 14 games under .500 and the first to qualify after losing as many as 44 of its first 75.

Gray, who can become a free agent after the World Series, went around the clubhouse to hug each of his teammates following Wednesday’s defeat.

“I’m proud of what we accomplished,” the pitcher said. “We were left for dead there for a while.”

A week ago, to the surprise of many, No. 21 Florida was a home favorite against No. 4 Ole Miss.

“Everybody was asking: How could Florida be favored? Well, now we see how,” Caesars Sports head of football trading Joey Feazel said.

Indeed, Florida blasted Ole Miss 52-28. Subsequently, one week after the public betting masses wanted nothing to do with the Gators, they’re all over Florida in college football Week 5 odds, vs. Missouri.

Flipping To Florida

Last year, Florida went 4-8 straight up (SU) and 5-7 against the spread (ATS). Gators coach Billy Napier was fired halfway through the season, and John Sumrall was hired on Nov. 30.

Oddsmakers expected somewhat of a turnaround, putting Florida’s season win total at 7.5. But it’s doubtful that anyone thought the Gators would be unbeaten heading into Week 5.

Florida is 4-0 SU/3-1 ATS and coming off that hugely impressive blowout of Ole Miss, as a 4-point home favorite.

The Gators then jumped from No. 21 to No. 8 in the AP poll. And Caesars Sports opened Florida as a 4.5-point road favorite vs. Missouri (3-1 SU/1-3 ATS) in college football Week 5 odds.

As of Wednesday night, Florida was up to -6. Feazel said the big win rightly swung the public’s opinion.

“You’ve got to see it to believe it,” Feazel said. “They weren’t on Florida last week vs. Ole Miss. Now, we’re seeing a lot of Florida money.”

So undoubtedly, Caesars will need Missouri — and preferably in an outright upset — for Saturday’s 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff.

Big Battle

Even with a Week 2 loss at Texas, Ohio State (3-1 SU and ATS) is the favorite in Caesars’ College Football Playoff championship odds. That’s also despite being ranked fifth in the AP poll.

The Buckeyes are hefty road favorites vs. No. 17 Iowa (4-0 SU/3-1 ATS) in a 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday start. Ohio State opened -14 and initially backed up to -13.5, but on Wednesday morning climbed to -14.5, where the number stood Wednesday night.

“To no one’s surprise, we’re taking more Ohio State money,” Feazel said. “The need is gonna be Iowa hanging within the number.”

College Football Rocks On Fox

The FOX Big Noon Kickoff heads to Minneapolis this week, where Minnesota (3-1 SU and ATS) hosts Michigan (3-1 SU/2-2 ATS).

The Wolverines are coming off their first loss — many might argue it’s their second — in a 20-19 home setback to Iowa as 4.5-point home favorites. Michigan gave up a touchdown on the game’s final play.

On the flip side, the Golden Gophers are coming off a big road upset, going to Washington as 12.5-point underdogs and leaving with a 27-24 victory.

Caesars opened Michigan -6.5, and the first move was toward Minnesota for this noon ET Saturday kickoff. The line dipped to Wolverines -5.5 on Sunday night and was still there as of Wednesday night.

“Michigan finally got the loss they were due,” Feazel said. “There’s not a lot of action at the moment on the side. This will get some action on Saturday, but I think it’ll be mostly two-way.

“But there is action on the Under.”

The total opened at 44.5, then got as low as 43 multiple times before nudging to 43.5 on Wednesday night.

FOX also has an interesting Friday night matchup between Penn State (3-1 SU/2-2 ATS) and Northwestern (2-1 SU/3-0 ATS), at 8 p.m. ET.

Last week, Northwestern put the fear of God into Indiana before losing 29-23 as a 20.5-point road underdog. And Penn State, ranked 13th at the time, shockingly blew a 17-0 lead and lost to Wisconsin 24-20 as a 9.5-point home favorite.

DraftKings Sports has the Nittany Lions as 2.5-point road favorites vs. the Wildcats, and opinions are split midweek, with 54% of spread bets on Northwestern/61% of spread money on Penn State.

  On-Campus Sharp Side

Last week, the Trojans were tied with Oregon at 27 early in the fourth quarter. But Southern Cal didn’t score again in a 41-27 setback as a 3.5-point home underdog.

This week, USC hosts Washington (3-1 SU/0-4 ATS) in a 7:30 p.m. ET Saturday kick. The Trojans are 9.5-point favorites, and Stone believes a double-digit win is in store.

Explaining his optimism, Stone noted that USC is averaging 39.8 points and 489.4 yards a game, among the top 10 nationally in both categories.

“USC hasn’t necessarily cured its defensive shortcomings. But the Trojans’ offense remains among the nation’s best,” Stone said. “On the other hand, Washington has been punchless on offense this season. Quarterback Demond Williams has no real weapons to complement his skills.

“I look for USC to roll to an easier-than-expected victory and cover the point spread.”

  Oh Say Can You SEC

Florida-Missouri isn’t the only big SEC showdown this week. No. 8 Alabama (4-0 SU/3-1 ATS) visits surprisingly unbeaten and 16th-ranked Mississippi State (4-0 SU and ATS), in a noon ET Saturday start.

The Bulldogs are coming off a riveting 31-24 win as 3.5-point favorites vs. Missouri. QB Kamario Taylor has also put himself into the Heisman Trophy odds conversation, now the +600 third choice, trailing only Ohio State wideout and favorite Jeremiah Smith (+260) and Miami QB Darian Mensah (+375).

Still, Caesars opened the Crimson Tide as 6-point road favorites, with the line toggling to -5.5 a couple of times early in the week before resettling at -6.

“So far, people are betting on Alabama and betting on the Over,” Feazel said. “But we’re also starting to see some Mississippi State moneyline trickle in.

“So we’re probably going to need Alabama to win and Mississippi State to cover. Although Mississippi State outright probably wouldn’t be bad, because there’ll be a lot of Alabama moneyline parlays.”

The Guardians and White Sox emerge from the same division, and in 13 matchups this season, Cleveland won seven and Chicago won six — about as even as it can get. The White Sox come into this series with momentum, however, having swept the favored Astros in the wild-card round. Now, they are an underdog once again. Is another upset in store? 

Playoff History: With that series victory over the Astros, the White Sox got their first playoff win since 2005 — the same year they last won the World Series. As for the Guardians, they’ve made it to the postseason in three of the last four years. They lost in the wild card last year, the ALCS in 2024 and the ALDS in 2022. Here’s what to know about the Rays-Yankees odds:

Season Series: The Yankees dispatched of one division rival in the wild-card round, and now they get another in the divisional round. New York and Tampa Bay went down to the wire in the AL East race during the regular season, but the Rays ended up pulling away in the end, winning the division by five games. However, in their 13 regular-season games, the Rays won seven and the Yankees won six. However, New York won four of the last five matchups between the two. On top of that, the Yankees dominated the Red Sox in the wild card, outscoring Boston 18-2 without Aaron Judge in the lineup. Can Tampa Bay slow down the Yankee train?

Playoff History: The Yankees have made the playoffs in nine of the last 10 years and have made it past the wild card in eight of those appearances. They won three straight World Series between 1998 and 2000, and have made it to at least the ALCS 10 times since 2001. They last won it all in 2009. As for the Rays, they last made it to the World Series in 2020, falling to the Dodgers. They have one other World Series berth, back in 2008, when they fell to the Phillies.

UConn was picked to win the Big East by the league’s coaches on Thursday with defending champion St. John’s the second choice.

The Huskies, who made their third national championship game appearance in the last four seasons, are led by preseason Big East Player of the Year selection Silas Demary Jr.  As a junior in the 2025-2026 season, Demary averaged 10.1 points, 5.9 assists and 4.5 rebounds for the Huskies last season following a transfer from Georgia and the SEC.

The Red Storm received two first-place votes. St. John’s is coming off two consecutive Big East regular-season and tournament titles — the first team ever to do that. Rick Pitino’s squad made the Sweet 16 for the first time since 1999. They are led by preseason first-team conference selections Tounde Yessoufou and Ian Jackson.

Villanova, Marquette and Providence were the next three in the preseason poll. Xavier was picked sixth. Creighton, led by new head coach Alan Huss, was seventh.

DePaul, which had its best finish in the Big East a season ago, was chosen eighth with Seton Hall and Georgetown behind them.

Butler, under first-year coach Ronald Nored, was the 11th choice. Here are the full Big East rankings:

UConn was in its familiar place — atop the preseason poll in the Big East.

The Huskies have won the regular-season conference title 25 times and the Big East Tournament 24, including both each year since UConn returned in 2021. Geno Auriemma’s team, which was a unanimous choice, is led by preseason Big East Player of the Year Sarah Strong. The junior won the conference’s Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year last season. She was the AP Player of the Year last season.

UConn went 38-1, including a perfect 20-0 mark in conference play last season.

Villanova was picked second as the Wildcats are coming off their fifth consecutive 20-win season in which they reached the Big East Tournament title game. They are led by Jasmine Bascoe, who averaged 18.9 points and 4.0 rebounds last season. The Wildcats open their season against Notre Dame in Rome as part of the Eternal City Tip-Off.

Creighton, St. John’s and Seton Hall rounded out the top five.

There are plenty of bones worth picking with Kalen DeBoer, but his record against AP Top 25 teams on the road isn’t one of them. The Crimson Tide get it done amid the Cowbells. 

Ben Portnoy: Mississippi State
Mississippi State fans have been waiting a decade for another moment like this. Kamario Taylor is the best player this program has seen this side of Dak Prescott, and the cowbells will be out in full force on Saturday. As good as quarterback Keelon Russell has been, Alabama’s defense continues to give me pause. Also, my Mississippi State grad wife will give me hell if I don’t pick the Bulldogs.

  Minnesota vs. Michigan

P.J. Fleck’s Golden Gophers look like they’re rounding into a Big Ten title contender after a win against Washington last weekend.

Litman: Minnesota
P.J. Fleck literally wiped the blood off linebacker Maverick Baranowski’s mouth and smeared it on his face after beating Washington last week. The Golden Gophers’ only loss so far is to a hot Mississippi State team, and they can catch Michigan while they’re down at home.

Cohen: Minnesota
Even though Michigan has a 3-1 overall record, it feels like there is an undercurrent of dysfunction for the Wolverines. Expect the Gophers to score a second consecutive upset. 

Portnoy: Michigan
I’m about as down on Michigan as can be, but quarterback Bryce Underwood showed something passing the ball last week against Iowa. The Wolverines didn’t score the points to show for it, but I think the offense is getting more comfortable. I’ll take Kyle Wittingham’s bunch to win the Little Brown Jug.

Where: Kinnick Stadium, Iowa City, Iowa

The Buckeyes’ offense will prove too much for Iowa’s otherwise stifling defense.

Litman: Ohio State
Iowa leads the country in scoring defense — giving up just eight points per game, but it’s not smart to pick against Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith at this point.

Cohen: Ohio State
We’ve seen this game before: A highly ranked Ohio State team against a surging Iowa squad. And the result is almost always a blowout in favor of the Buckeyes. 

Portnoy: Ohio State
Weird things happen at Kinnick Stadium, but I think the Buckeyes’ offense is too much to overcome here. I’ve liked what I’ve seen from the Hawkeyes and quarterback Hank Brown. I just don’t think Iowa has the firepower to keep up in this one.

  No. 25 Missouri vs. No. 8 Florida

Florida has scored at least 40 points in every game it’s played this season, and Buster Faulkner looks like the best offensive coordinator in the country. 

Litman: Florida
Going with the Gators, who are a hot, unbeaten, top-10 team under coach Jon Sumrall. Not to mention, they have a scary backfield tandem of Jadan Baugh and Duke Clark, who combined to rush for 268 yards and four touchdowns in last week’s emphatic win over Ole Miss.

Cohen: Florida
Jon Sumrall is an early contender for Coach of the Year given what he’s done with the Gators thus far. They’re a high-scoring machine right now, and that’s enough to stave off Mizzou.

Portnoy: Florida
Jon Sumrall is absolutely steamrolling his way through SEC play so far this year. The Gators are about as fun to watch offensively as any, and I don’t think Missouri’s defense has the tools to slow down one of the nation’s best rushing attacks.

  No. 17 Tennessee vs. Auburn

I think the Vols bounce back from being bloodied by Texas at Neyland Stadium.

The Tigers take advantage of a hobbled Tennessee team and get the program’s first win at Neyland Stadium since 2013.

Cohen: Tennessee 
It wouldn’t be a shock if the difficult loss to Texas compounded into another defeat for the Volunteers. But at the end of the day, Tennessee has too much talent for a rebuilding Auburn. 

Portnoy: Tennessee
Vols quarterback Faizon Brandon looked the part of a freshman signal-caller against Texas, but his upside is still there. I’m skeptical of what I’ve seen from Auburn so far, and I think they’re more Paper Tiger (sorry for the pun) than an actual SEC contender. 

  South Carolina vs. No. 24 Kentucky

Like Mississippi State, Kentucky is edging toward one of the best seasons it’s ever had after a brilliant start.

The Wildcats keep riding this momentum they’ve built under first-year head coach Will Stein and break a four-game losing streak vs. the Gamecocks, who are struggling right now.

Cohen: Kentucky
Will Shane Beamer be the first Power Four coach to get fired this season? With that question hanging over the Gamecocks, this one is ripe for Kentucky to take.

Portnoy: South Carolina
The Gamecocks have been a mess this year and Shane Beamer is squarely on the hot seat. So what better time than now for an upset? Say what you will about Beamer, but his squads have been known to pull off a win or two you didn’t expect. This feels like the time for it.

  TCU vs. No. 10 BYU

The Horned Frogs will have a tough time stopping the Cougars and their vaunted rushing attack.

Litman: BYU
Led by standout quarterback Bear Bachmeier, the Cougars move to 4-0 and continue to show why they are one of the best teams in the Big 12.

Cohen: BYU
The Cougars have the ninth-best rushing attack in the country at nearly 263 yards per game. Good luck to the Horned Frogs in trying to stop it. 

Portnoy: BYU
Speaking of hot seats, Sonny Dykes would do himself wonders to win a game like this one. Problem is, I don’t think it’s going to happen. BYU looks like the class of the Big 12 early this year, and they should roll in this one.

  Clemson vs. No. 4 Miami

Young: The Hurricanes look like the program Clemson used to be in the 2010s and Clemson looks unrecognizable next to those teams.

Litman: Clemson may be Miami’s first Power Four opponent of the season, but the Hurricanes shouldn’t have any problems — they look like one of the most complete teams in the country right now.

Cohen: Far too much talent on a Miami team that has embraced modern roster building in ways Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney couldn’t even imagine. 

Portnoy: I’ll be in Clemson for this one, but I’m heading to the Upstate more for Darian Mensah than anything the Tigers are putting on the field right now. The Hurricanes look unstoppable offensively and Mensah should be atop just about every Heisman straw poll after this one.

  No. 18 USC vs. Washington

No one needs a resounding victory more than Lincoln Riley right now.

After an emotionally charged loss to Oregon last week, all the headlines surrounding the Trojans are about how coach Lincoln Riley still can’t get it right. Riley’s team will come through for him against Washington, but the defensive performance will still look shaky against Huskies’ quarterback Demond Williams Jr.

Cohen: USC
Man, this one is tough. Two teams that were dealt crushing defeats last week. Two defiant head coaches. But the Trojans are in a better position to salvage their season — for now. 

Portnoy: USC
The noise is growing louder around Lincoln Riley, but I do think USC is just a flat out more talented team than Washington right now. Nothing is coming easily to the Huskies offensively at the moment. This feels like a bit of a get-right game for the Trojans after last week’s prime-time loss.

  Arizona State vs. Baylor

Kenny Dillingham seems to be working his quarterback magic again with Cutter Boley, the Kentucky transfer.

Portnoy: Baylor
The Bears are basically an inch away from being undefeated right now. DJ Lagway has been up and down, but I like what he brings to the Baylor offense. Give me Dave Aranda as he continues to cool his scorching seat.
