Los Angeles Dodgers co-owners Todd Boehly and Mark Walter have held talks about selling their stakes in London-based English Premier League club Chelsea F.C., according to a report from The Financial Times on Monday.

Boehly and Walter invested £2.5 billion ($2.89 million) in Chelsea alongside Clearlake Capital and Hansjörg Wyss in 2022 under the investment group BlueCo. Clearlake Capital holds the majority of the ownership stake at 61.54%, while Boehly, Walter and Wyss each own a 12.8% stake.

Walter’s reported interest in selling his Chelsea stake comes just four days after he sold his majority stake in the Los Angeles Lakers. Walter purchased the Buss family’s controlling stake in the Lakers in June 2025 for $10 billion and sold it to Bob Iger and Josh Kushner for $12.5 billion last week. Boehly was also part of Walter’s minority stake in the Lakers.

If Walter decides to offload his Chelsea ownership stake, he will still be the controlling owner of both the Dodgers and Los Angeles Sparks. Boehly, meanwhile, will still have a foot in European soccer as an investor in French Ligue 1 club RC Strasbourg, which just signed United States men’s national team midfielder Gio Reyna.

There have been no reports of Boehly and Walter entertaining offers for their stakes in the Los Angeles Dodgers ownership group. The Dodgers have won back-to-back World Series titles and are valued at $7.8 billion.
